In The Shadow of the Moon (Rocket)

On July 20, I took Maddie to a gathering in the Saturn V building on the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. It was a get together for the flight controllers currently working the STS 127/ISS2JA mission. There were quite a few people there, although you wouldn't know it by the pictures I took - Maddie was playing the shy card. She enjoyed checking out the Saturn V rocket that was supposed to be Apollo 18, but the program was cancelled before it was used.

Although Maddie is pretty small, you can still get a sense of how huge the first stage rockets are (5 total).

Maddie paused for a photo op with the Apollo 11 crew (Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Buzz Aldrin).

And this is where they went... Let's do it again!

LOVE this set of pictures... your daughter is adorable, and I hope she grows up in a world where we return to the moon for serious study. I especially like the picture of her near the F-1 engine. Talk about SCALE, haha ;)
